Getting There to Dukes Creek Falls
Duke Creek Falls is located just outside of Helen, Georgia or about 90 minutes from Atlanta.
There’s a decent amount of parking at the trailhead, maybe 20 spots or so. We were able to snag a spot but after we finished the trail we noticed cars parked on the side of the road. Before you start the hike, take a minute to take in the beautiful view of the mountains right behind the bathrooms.

Dukes Creek Falls Trail
The trail starts out as a paved path before transitioning into a few sets of stairs that lead to a dirt trail. After one more staircase, you’ll take a left and continue along the main path. Eventually, you’ll see a sign for Dukes Creek Falls, follow it to the right. From here, the trail narrows a bit with some exposed roots, but it’s still a steady, easy descent to the bottom.
At the base, there are two viewing platforms. The first takes you down a flight of stairs right beside the river for an up-close look. If you head back up and follow the boardwalk, you’ll get an even better full view of the waterfall – it’s absolutely worth the extra steps.
When you’re ready to head back, simply retrace your route. The incline on the return is mild, though you can take breaks if needed. We hiked it with a toddler who had no problem and loved the waterfall! Even though the path can get a little uneven, we saw a few parents pushing strollers too.
This trail is beautiful year-round, but its shaded path makes it especially great for those hot Georgia summer days.
