Dahlonega
Dahlonega is a charming mountain town located about an hour north of Atlanta. Known for its beautiful scenery, historic downtown square, and multiple wineries, Dahlonega offers the perfect mix of relaxing and adventure.

What to Do in Dahlonega
Take a Hike
No better way to see the fall foliage than to do a short hike! Check out one of my favorite hikes in the area Preachers Rock. Or if you are looking for something easier check out Trahlyta Falls in Vogel State Park. At Vogel, you can also take a paddle boat out on the lack or have a picnic by the water.
Stop by a Pumpkin Patch
Burt’s Pumpkin Farm is less than 30 minutes from Dahlonega and is the best place to take some cute fall pictures! They have tons of pumpkins, concessions and a tractor ride.
Visit a Winery
Dahlonega has soo many wineries to choose from. Pick your favorite, grab a glass of wine, and soak in the mountain views while catching up with friends! My personal favorites are Kaya Vineyards and Winery (though it’s usually a bit busier) and Three Sisters Vineyards & Winery.

If wine isn’t your thing, checkout 52 West Brewing. Grab a beer, sit on the patio and enjoy the fall breeze.
Shopping in the Square
Visit the square for shopping, dining, and sweet treats! You’ll find everything from antique shops and boutiques to candy and jerky stores. If you like fudge, defientely stop by the Fudge Factory and grab some tiger fudge! It’s a mix of vanilla, chocolate, and peanut butter, and it’s soo good. If you’re in the mood for ice cream, Kilwin’s and Connie’s Ice Cream Parlor are both solid picks.

Blue Ridge
Blue Ridge is a cozy mountain town tucked away in North Georgia, just an easy 90-minute drive from Atlanta. It has the perfect mix of small-town charm and outdoor fun. Here you’ll find cute local shops and restaurants, waterfalls, hiking trails, and even apple orchards in the fall.

What to Do in Blue Ridge
Take a Hike
Fall Branch Falls is only around 1 mile round trip, making it the perfect short trail to add to your trip! You can also check out Morganton Point recreation area, walk along the shoreline or rent a kayak and go out on the lake!
Go Apple Picking
Mercer Farms is a very popular (and there for pretty busy) apple farm located in Blue Ridge. You can spend almost a whole day here as they do have a winery, u-pick apples, a deli and market!
Visit a Winery
Stop by Bear Claw Vineyards & Winery for a glass of wine (or a wine slushie!) and enjoy live music on the weekends. Relax on the patio or stroll through the vineyard for some great photo ops!
Zipline Through the Trees
Just 6 miles from downtown Blue Ridge, you can zipline through the fall foliage at Zipline Canopy Tours of Blue Ridge, complete with canopy decks, sky bridges, and towers for stunning views.
Ellijay
Located just 90 minutes north of Atlanta, Ellijay is a charming North Georgia mountain town that comes alive in the fall. Known as Georgia’s apple capital, it’s the go-to spot for apple picking, fall festivals, and scenic drives through the colorful mountains.

What to Do in Ellijay
Apple Picking
As the apple capital of Georgia, you can’t visit Ellijay and not go apple picking. B.J. Reece Orchards has apple picking, wagon rides, a petting zoo, pig races, and fresh-baked apple treats. They also offer apple cider donuts (which are delicious!) and wine tasting.
In the fall, B.J. Reece Orchards also offers a pumpkin patch and corn maze, making it the perfect place to spend an autumn day!
Also located in Ellijay, R & A Orchards is a charming family-owned farm offering a U-Pick apple experience and U-Cut flowers from September to October. You can enjoy the beauty of the orchard while selecting their favorite apples and flowers. The farm also features a market and café, where you can savor their delicious hand pies and other homemade treats!
Take a Hike
Take a quick hike on Tumbling Waters Trail. The trail is only 1 mile round trip and rated as moderate.
Fort Mountain State Park is only 30 minutes away, there are a few trails you can do here including Cool Springs over look. This one is very short, only 0.2 miles but gives you sweeping views of the mountains and will look incredible in the fall!
Visit a Winery
Grab a glass of wine at Chateau Meichtry Family Vineyard and Winery and enjoy live music out on the patio. On weekends, they often have a food truck too so you’ll have everything you need for a perfect afternoon.
Do a Hard Cider Tasting
If wine isn’t your thing, visit Reece’s Cider Company! Here you can get a cider flight to try 4 varieties of their hard cider!
Eat at The Roof
The Roof is a highly rated rooftop restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal while taking in glimpses of the surrounding mountains!
