I’ll be sharing all the juicy details, from the quality of the rooms and the variety of restaurants to the entertainment options and the vibe of the place. Continue reading to see if this Hilton lives up to the all-inclusive dream!
The Location
A definite pro of the Hilton Cancun is its location. It is located less than a 20 minute ride from the airport, meaning you can be by the pool with a drink in hand faster. One thing to note is it is not located on the “Hotel Strip” in Cancun. So if you do like to leave the resort and explore shops and other restaurants, keep in mind that it will be a cab ride away.
The Rooms
Starting off first with the rooms! They have a few different options, ranging from mangrove or ocean view rooms with a king or 2 queens, to suites with multiple rooms or rooms with a personal pool.
We personally stayed in a high floor ocean view king room. These rooms are on the 5th or 7th floor and give you beautiful views of the resort and ocean. If you can, I definitely recommend spending the extra money on the ocean view room. There’s nothing like watching the sunrise from your balcony every morning.
The room had a large bathroom with a rain shower head. Included were shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. They were as expected, if you have dry hair, I would recommend packing your own conditioner. The room itself was very spacious, with modern finishes and a large balcony with two chairs and a small table.
In the room is a mini fridge that stays fully stocked with sodas, beer, water and juice. Snacks included were cookies, peanuts and chips, both were replenished daily.
The Restaurants
The Hilton Cancun has 4 restaurants, one main buffet, an ice cream shop, lobby cafe and a few pool side food carts. At any of these restaurants you can order as much or as little as you’d like. At all the sit down restaurants there are certain specialty items available for an upcharge.
Auma
American Steakhouse. This restaurant is only open for dinner and does require a reservation. On the menu you can expect steaks, chicken, octopus, etc. The food here was very delicious, the appetizers were basic but done well.
Maxal
Maxal is a Mexican restaurant. It is open for breakfast on select days and lunch and every night for dinner. Breakfast is served buffet style with an omelet and quesadilla station. They have a variety of fruits, eggs, plantains, potatoes, and more. The chilaquiles station was my personal favorite! They had a variety of topping and meats you could add.
Lunch is only served on the patio and is table service. They have a small menu with a variety of meat that can be served in either a taco, quesadilla, or sandwich. The meal comes with chips, guac and salsa. This is also the only other place I found a drink menu (other than the lobby bar). The drink pictured here is the Maya Rivera, which was delicious!
Dinner is a traditional sit down meal with three courses. While the seafood appetizers were a miss, the entrees and dessert were delicious.
La Luce
La Luce is an Italian restaurant and is only open for dinner with reservations. They serve pasta, seafood and pizzas. Personally this was our least favorite restaurant and would skip it if we visited again. We ordered pasta and salmon, so we can’t speak on how well the pizzas were.
The patio (shown) did have a stunning view of the ocean however.
Suncan
Suncan is an Asian open air restaurant open for lunch and dinner on select days. Reservations are not needed for lunch or dinner. They serve sushi, wontons, stir fry, etc. The food here was just okay, definitely below average for Asian food.
Vela
Vela is a buffet restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You never need a reservation here and are free to come as many times as you’d like. Initially, I was surprised at how small the buffet was for a resort of this size, however they did manage to fit a lot of options in and they always have other restaurants available other than just this one. Food options for lunch and dinner rotate daily, while breakfast is more or less the same.
Pool Side Food Cart
Typically one or both pools will have food carts serving burgers, tacos, nachos, ceviche and/or fruit. The tacos at the north pool were my favorite, they were super delicious and convenient. You can grab your tacos and eat them right by the pool.
La Churrería
This place is your one-stop shop for all things sweet. They’ve got creamy soft serve ice cream, both chocolate and vanilla, to satisfy your cravings. Plus, a ton of toppings and candy to add to your ice cream! If you’re not in the mood for ice cream, they have a whole bunch of sweets to choose from. They usually have cupcakes and donuts, and of course, you can’t forget the churros! I definitely visited her at least once a day (but usually more!)
Azulinda Market & Café
Azulinda is open all day and serves a variety of items. For breakfast you can grab a yogurt parfait or breakfast sandwich before your excursion. For lunch and dinner they have sandwiches and pizza and have coffee drinks available all day. In there case you’ll also find a variety of desserts and fruits. I only had a few desserts and coffee from here and loved the convenience of it.
The Drinks
The Hilton Cancun has three main bars: a poolside bar at each pool and a lobby bar. The lobby bar does have a bar menu, the poolside ones do not, however they will make any drink you want. I recommend having a list of drinks you like or want to try so you never run out of options.
Hilton Cancun All Inclusive – the Pools
You’ll find two large pools and a splash pad at the Hilton. The North pool (also known as the chill pool) is mainly for adults but children are welcome over there too. The South pool (also known as the activities pool) has a splash pad behind it, making it popular with families. The La Churrería is also found on this side, next to the kids clubs.
I thought I would spend most of my time at the “adults” pool since we were traveling without children, however the activities pool had a much more lively vibe so we spent everyday over there. They had a DJ and multiple activities happening in and around the pool daily.
Another thing to note is at both pools servers would regularly come around to take your drink order and take any trash/dirty dishes you had. This was a major bonus, I appreciated not having to walk to the pool bar.
The Activities
The resort has multiple activities going on throughout the day for children and adults. Typically day time activities include: water aerobics, pool and beach volleyball, trivia, bracelet making and more. Night time activities include: bingo, movies in the amphitheater, minute to win games, shows with singing and dancing, and karaoke.
They also have different activities going on for young children, but I can’t speak on those since I was not traveling with kids.
You can find a copy of the schedule by scanning the QR on your bracelet key or they have the schedules posted in the lobby.
Hilton Cancun All Inclusive Review
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Hilton Cancun All Inclusive Resort and would go back! While some of the food might have missed the mark, there was always the option of getting something else at a different restaurant. The entertainment and wait staff always made sure you were having fun with a drink in your hand at all times.
