If you’re visiting Fall Creek Falls State Park you have to stop by Buzzard’s Roost! This overlook is often skipped over but it offers some incredible views! You can stop and enjoy the views at the platform, however for even better views I recommend doing the short hike to a rocky viewing area.

How to Get There

Buzzard’s Roost/Millikan Overlook is located after the Fall Creek Falls overlook, on the right side of the road. There’s a viewing platform right off the parking lot, which is where most people stop for a quick picture then keep on driving. For better views do one of the two trails located in front of or to the right of the platform.

Buzzard’s Roost- Trail Option 1

The first and more obvious trail can be accessed on either side of the platform and continues down in front of the viewing area. It’s a short steep walk down to some boulders where you can take in the views. The view isn’t completely unobstructed since there are a few trees, but the view is still pretty great. If you look over to the right you’ll see a large rock formation protruding and that’s where the other trail will lead you. 

Buzzard’s Roost- Trail Option 2

The second trail may be a tad bit longer, but still only 0.2 mile walk. This trail is located off to the right of the viewing platform and will take you through the woods to reach the rocky viewing area. There are a few side trails but just stick to the trail with the blue marks and you shouldn’t have any problems reaching it. From here you’ll have unobstructed views and a lot of options to roam around or hangout. Be careful not to get too close to the edge since there are a lot of drop offs. 

Buzzard’s Roost- No Trail Option 3

The last and easiest option would be to just see the view at the platform right off the parking lot. This is a good option if you’re short on time, can’t hike or don’t have energy for another hike. While the view isn’t as large as at the other options, this is still a great spot to enjoy the views while eating your lunch!
